Alisha Sanghvi
Current campus involvement: At the School of Nursing, I am involved in Nursing Student Government, serve as a Nursing Student Ambassador and Peer Mentor, and am a member of Delta Epsilon Mu (a pre-health fraternity). Outside of nursing, I participate in Impact Dance and the Indian American Student Association.
Hometown: Orchard Lake, Michigan
Dream job: My goal is to become a Family Nurse Practitioner, combining compassionate care with evidence-based practice to help people live happier, healthier lives.
Why nursing: I chose nursing because of the lasting impact nurses have on their patients. I am inspired by their compassionate care and driven to make a difference in people’s lives.
Favorite thing about being a U-M student: My favorite thing about being a U-M student is the beautiful campus community that connects people from all walks of life. I love the endless opportunities for academic growth, the strong sense of community, and the unwavering pride of the alumni network. The nursing school offers a small-school feel within a large institution, and there’s nothing like the energy of game day in the Big House!

Hamad Tahir
Current campus involvement: Men in Nursing, COPE Nursing Support, Global Scholars Program, and Science Learning Circle Lead.
Hometown: Woodlawn, Maryland
Dream job: I aspire to become an ICU nurse, drawn to the fast-paced environment where critical thinking and compassionate care make a life-changing difference.
Why nursing: The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the critical role of nurses, inspiring me to pursue this path. As a first-generation, low-income student, I want to ensure equitable access to care while combining my passion for healthcare and compassion for others. Nursing allows me to apply knowledge of the human body to help people heal and create meaningful connections.
Favorite thing about being a U-M student: I love being part of a small, supportive nursing cohort within a large, resource-rich university. The three-year program fosters growth through interconnected courses and smaller class sizes, while the broader U-M community offers endless opportunities to thrive.

Fiorella Adan
Current campus involvement: I serve as senior executive president of Nursing Student Government, treasurer of Nursing Students of Color, and a student leader intern for UMSN’s Sigma Rho Chapter. I’m also part of the Student Nurses Association and the Honors Program. My research focuses on improving clinical preceptorship experiences for undergraduate nursing students.
Hometown: Arlington Heights, Illinois
Dream job: I hope to become a pediatric nurse specializing in intensive care or endocrinology, then advance as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). My goal is to open an inclusive practice that accepts all forms of insurance, ensuring equitable care for all patients.
Why nursing: My mother’s journey as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) showed me the power of compassionate care and advocacy. Seeing the impact she had on her patients inspired me to pursue nursing as a way to make a difference in individuals' lives and communities.
Favorite thing about being a U-M student: The kindness and support of my peers, strong school spirit, and the opportunities U-M provides. As a first-generation college student, I’ve felt empowered to thrive and prepared to succeed as a future nurse.
