Dr. Solberg's research explores how adverse social contexts, including adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and minority stress impact substance use in sexual and gender minority (SGM) communities. He examines how people cope with these challenges, their perceptions of risk, and their motivations that all influence their health behaviors and overall well-being. Ultimately, Dr. Solberg aims to develop innovative interventions specifically designed for SGM communities. These interventions will target the negative effects of adversity and improve health outcomes, ultimately reducing health disparities within this population. Understanding how adversity affects the health of SGM individuals is crucial. Dr. Solberg's research will provide valuable insights for developing targeted interventions that effectively address the specific needs of this community.
