Dr. Stacciarini is a global researcher, and her work in mental health equity has had a significant impact on the well-being of underrepresented populations worldwide. Her research has contributed to the development of policies, interdisciplinary sciences, and public health on a global scale. In the US, Dr. Stacciarini has studied mental health disparities faced by underrepresented and hard-to-reach populations, which are often understudied. These populations include: rural Latino immigrants and farmworkers, rural LGBTQ+ adolescents, and internationally diverse individuals with communicable diseases. Dr. Stacciarini has integrated and leveraged interdisciplinary knowledge that too often exists in isolated silos, developing unique approaches in research for working with and for minoritized groups. Globally she is recognized for: 1) Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), 2) Mixed Methods Research, 3) Developing a new concept for measuring rurality, and 4) Combining socio-spatial approaches to examine community members (Who)  and locations (Where) for the development of community-based health interventions.

Teaching

Dr. Stacciarini has over 25 years of experience in higher education and have taught nursing students and other health professional students in the U.S. and internationally. She has substantial knowledge of course evaluation, curriculum development, and accreditation processes. She has sustained records of excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate nursing students; she has developed Mixed-Methods Research and Foundations of Qualitative Nursing Research courses (PhD level). Additionally, Dr. Stacciarini has led faculty to advance global education, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), anti-bias, anti-racist curricula, and interprofessional experiences for undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Stacciarini has exceptional mentorship record  and an absolute commitment to inclusive excellence mentorship with undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and junior faculty from local, national, and international locales.
