Dr. Jones is a certified telehealth provider and educator. Her work is focused on optimizing telehealth delivery, policy, and education, particularly within advanced practice nursing. Dr. Jones has developed Visual Visits™: A Provider’s Guide to Training for Virtual Physical Assessments. A 10- video series with content modules covering topics including etiquette and HIPAA considerations during telehealth visits, what you and the patient will need to conduct a physical assessment via telehealth, basic vital signs and general assessment, and then 7 modules, each focusing on a different body system. She has worked on quality and process improvement projects in telehealth assessment through Michigan Medicine, and has developed curricula for a national post-graduate NP fellowship established through an academic-practice partnership. She is a member of the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation (IHPI) and serves as Chair of the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties Telehealth Committee.

Teaching
Dr. Jones’ teaching role at the University of Michigan includes teaching graduate nursing students both in the classroom and clinical setting. In the classroom setting Dr. Jones teaches in the Digital Education Program and is the lead faculty for Advanced Health Assessment and Advanced Primary Care I. In the clinical setting, Dr. Jones oversees students during their clinical courses as well as precepts students in her clinical site. Her approach is student centered, interactive and engaging as well as collaborative with effective communication. Dr. Jones strives to provide relevant assignments, give good feedback, and use real world/life examples. She provides leadership, mentoring, and education to prepare future nurse practitioners through inclusion, care, communication, and advocacy. Her goal is to instill exceptional values in students to strive for optimal health outcomes for patients through evidenced based practice.
