Dr. Lee's research focuses on improving the health and health equity of low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) by empowering women as effectors of health for themselves, their families, and their communities. Furthermore, her work encompassess better involving women's partners, families, communities, systems, and structures to promote women's health and gender equity. Dr. Lee has more than ten years of experience working in African countries, including Uganda, Zambia, Liberia, and Nigeria.

Teaching
Dr. Lee has both formal teaching and mentoring experience. She has delivered a number of guest lectures on topics related to global health, maternal child health, and gender equity for both undergraduate and graduate level nursing and public health students. Dr. Lee has also mentored a number of nursing honors students and graduate nuring students, leading to publications at peer-reviewed jounals such as Midwifery and BMC Public Health and presentations at national and international conferences such as American Public Health Associations (APHA) Consortium of Univerity for Global Health (CUGH).
