U-M is looking for up to ten students at the advanced professional level from each health science school with a basic knowledge of motivational interviewing. This is a great opportunity learn more and network in an exciting interprofessional format!

Dates (both days required)

Wednesdays, November 8 and 15 from 5-8 p.m.


Students should be enrolled in one of the following programs: MD, NP/CNM/DNP, DPT, PharmD, DDS, RDH, MPH, or MSW.

In this two-day workshop, you will:

  • Learn about, from, and with each other in the context of motivational interviewing to improve health outcomes for patients and populations.

  • Work with individuals of other professions to maintain a climate of mutual respect and shared values.

  • Use the knowledge of your own role and those of other professions to appropriately assess and address the healthcare needs of patients and to promote and advance the health of populations.

  • Learn to communicate with patients, families, communities, and professionals in a responsive and responsible manner that supports a team approach for the promotion and maintenance of health and the prevention and treatment of disease.
