U-M is looking for up to ten students at the advanced professional level from each health science school with a basic knowledge of motivational interviewing. This is a great opportunity learn more and network in an exciting interprofessional format!

Dates (both days required)

Wednesdays, November 8 and 15 from 5-8 p.m.

Eligibility

Students should be enrolled in one of the following programs: MD, NP/CNM/DNP, DPT, PharmD, DDS, RDH, MPH, or MSW.

Objectives

  • Learn about, from, and with each other in the context of motivational interviewing to improve health outcomes for patients and populations.

  • Work with individuals of other professions to maintain a climate of mutual respect and shared values.

  • Use the knowledge of one’s own role and those of other professions to appropriately assess and address the healthcare needs of patients via simulated interactions.

  • Communicate with patients, families, communities, and professionals in health and other fields that supports a team approach to the promotion and maintenance of health and the prevention and treatment of disease.
