Description
Are you concerned about the health threats of climate change? Have you wondered how you might work collaboratively with others in health and science at the intersection of climate change and human health? Read on!
The World Health Organization has called climate change the greatest threat to human health in the 21st century. Through rising temperatures, more extreme weather, rising sea levels and increasing atmospheric CO2, climate change will exacerbate vector- and water-borne illness, temperature related illness, respiratory disease, and mental illness, among others. These health effects will be felt most severely by vulnerable populations. Successful solutions to mitigate these health impacts will require diverse teams of climate scientists, public health officials, clinicians, nurses and policy makers.
On Tuesday, January 5th 2021 from 5-6:30pm, join University of Michigan faculty, Dr. Joseph Kolars (medicine), Dr. Sue Anne Bell (nursing), Dr. Marie O'Neill (public health) and Dr. Richard Rood (engineering) to discuss the intersection of climate change and human health, and the challenges and opportunities of collaborative teams.
