Portrait of Valerie MaholmesValerie Maholmes, PhD, will be speaking at UMSN. The name of her presentation is, "Federal Priorities and Funding Opportunities in Research on Pediatric Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences."
 
Dr. Valerie Maholmes is the Chief of the Pediatric Trauma and Critical Illness Branch at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) at the National Institutes of Health. She sets the vision and priorities for research that addresses the continuum of psychosocial, behavioral, biological, and physiological influences that affect child health outcomes in trauma, injury, and acute care.
 
Previously, she managed the Child and Family Processes/Child Maltreatment and Violence Research Program at NICHD. She provided leadership on normative development research in children from the newborn period through adolescence, and on the impact of specific aspects of physical and social environments on the health and psychological development of infants, children, and adolescents.
