Description

The CASCAID faculty group invites you to join us for "Dinner and a Movie" as part of our series focusing on trauma and youth with high adverse childhood events. We will be showing "Break the Chain," a feature-length documentary that addresses the issue of human trafficking within Michigan communities and the U.S. The documentary follows two survivors of human trafficking, as they provide a realistic look at how often this issue goes unnoticed.

Panelists are: Jessica Lowen, PhD candidate in Anthropology whose work investigates religiously motivated, gender-based social movements like human trafficking; Eva Foti-Pagan, attorney in Ann Arbor and past research fellow at the University of Michigan Human Trafficking Clinic; Mary Kapp, Lieutenant with Michigan State Police; Melissa Novock, Human Trafficking Coordinator at WC-SAFE; Julie Groat, forensic nurse at WC-SAFE.

Dinner, catered by Jerusalem Garden, and a panel discussion with graduate students and professionals in nursing, law, anthropology, and social work, will follow the film.
