MLK Symposium and MLK Health Sciences Lecture set for Monday, Jan. 16
Jan 09, 202337th annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. SymposiumThe MLK Symposium will be held at Hill Auditorium. The 2023 symposium kicks off at 10 a.m., with a live stream available for those who cannot attend in person. The keynote address, which will have an in-person component for the first time since 2020, will feature a dynamic mix of local and national speakers and performances.

Nov 15, 2022U-M School of Nursing Research Assistant Professor Rebecca Evans-Polce, an expert in substance use epidemiology and disparities in substance use, was officially notified that she was awarded a R01 grant from the NIH (National Institutes of Health)/NIAAA (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism) for titled, “Sexual Fluidity and Longitudinal Changes in Alcohol Misuse and Associated Health Consequences”. Oct 10, 2022The University of Michigan (U-M) School of Nursing today announced that Mike (MBA ’79) and Nancy (LSA ’75, MBA ’79) McLelland, longtime financial supporters of student scholarship at the University, have established the McLelland Endowed Professorship. Funding aims to increase access to diverse doula care
Jul 11, 2022The Region 9 Perinatal Quality Collaborative (PQC) co-chaired by U-M School of Nursing professor Lisa Kane Low, Ph.D., CNM, FACNM, FAAN recently received $34,000 in grant funding from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund to increase and diversify the doula workforce. Doulas provide education, physical comfort and emotional support throughout the birthing process. This new funding will assist in improving accessibility to culturally aligned doula support for birthing families to address health disparities and improve birth outcomes.
