For Undergraduate Students
Global Health Minor
The Global Health Minor at the U-M School of Nursing offers undergraduates a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of health challenges across diverse populations and global settings. Through interdisciplinary coursework and immersive experiences, students gain valuable insights into how culture, environment and policy shape health outcomes around the world.
This minor helps students build a global perspective on nursing practice and prepares them to engage meaningfully in a wide range of international and cross-cultural health contexts. Fieldwork opportunities—both abroad and locally—enhance classroom learning and foster real-world skills.
Study Abroad & Internships
All nursing undergraduate students at U-M have access to a wide range of global experiences. You can join group programs led by U-M School of Nursing faculty, such as studying health systems in Costa Rica, exploring birth practices in Denmark or completing internships in Ghana or India.
Additionally, students looking for something more personalized can design their own internship or volunteer experience with one of our international partners.
Research & Service Learning
Not all global experiences require academic credit. Some U-M School of Nursing faculty lead students abroad for flexible, hands-on research projects, offering valuable global exposure outside traditional study abroad.
For Graduate Students

These experiences prepare students to make a meaningful impact locally and globally.
