As a nurse scientist and nurse midwife, Dr. Abdelnabi’s research focuses on improving quality of life in Muslim American women. Her current study is focused on understanding the facilitators and barriers on reproductive and sexual health knowledge in Muslim American women. Dr. Abdelnabi’s work also includes completing her dissertation on the lived experiences of second-generation Muslim American women with infertility and understanding to what extent sociocultural and religious factors impinge on the decision to seek treatment in reproductive health. Dr. Abdelnabi is interested in developing programs to promote reproductive and sexual health education in racial, ethnic, and marginalized groups. Her future directions also include creating and developing interventional programs using Traditional Arabic and Islamic Medicine (TAIM) to promote or enhance psychosocial well-being in Muslim American women with infertility.

Teaching

Dr. Abdelnabi has worked with nursing, Midwifery, Family Nurse Practitioner and Medical students. She previously was an OB clinical instructor for undergraduate and graduate nursing students. Dr. Abdelnabi also served as adjunct faculty teaching women’s health for Family Nurse Practitioner students.
