UMSN next accreditation visit

The School of Nursing is preparing for the fall 2018 Doctorate of Nursing Practice and Post Master APRN certificate programs on-site accreditation visit (September 24 – 26, 2018).

The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) invites the School’s inside and outside constituents to comment on the programs under evaluation. Comments are due by Sept. 3, 2018, 21 days before the visit. Comments are to be presented in writing and will remain confidential.  They should be submitted to:

The DNP is accredited by the CCNE. Achieving and maintaining accreditation requires that Schools of Nursing show evidence of compliance with a set of standards prescribed by the accrediting body, based on principles widely accepted in nursing professional education. It also requires that the School have a long-range system for self-evaluation, quality improvement, benchmarking and methods to collect data to measure program outcomes on a continual basis.

Nursing programs that achieve accreditation assures the public, including potential employers, that our graduates are trained under nationally established standards.

Baccalaureate and Master's degree programs (BSN and MSN)

The baccalaureate program at the University of Michigan School of Nursing is approved by the State of Michigan's Board of Nursing Michigan Bureau of Health Professionals P.O. Box 30670 Lansing, MI 48909-8170 Phone: (517) 335-0918 Fax: (517) 373-2179. Our last review occurred in 2015.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing and the master's degree program in nursing at University of Michigan School of Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791. The CCNE Board of Commissioners granted the U-M School of Nursing accreditation for ten years, extending to June 30, 2022.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

The Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program at University of Michigan School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791. The program is accredited through June 30, 2019 with our next site visit occurring September 24-26, 2018.

Nurse-midwifery master's programs

The nurse midwifery master's degree (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), and post-master's option are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME).
