VA Clinic Named After UMSN Nurse, Decorated Veteran

In a tribute to a lifetime of service and dedication to our country and our community, the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, located just minutes away from the University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMSN), has renamed its women’s clinic in honor of Brigadier General Carol Ann Fausone (ret.), a UMSN alumna and decorated veteran. A dedication ceremony was held in May to celebrate this honor.

Carol Ann embarked on her remarkable journey in 1975 when she earned her baccalaureate in nursing from UMSN and set out to pursue her passion for healing when she received her commission in the United States Air Force (USAF) as a medical officer in 1977.

From there, her career spanned an impressive 36 years in the USAF and Michigan Air National Guard, during which she earned numerous commendations for her bravery, skill, and unwavering dedication to duty. Her exceptional nursing abilities and leadership shined brightly as she worked her way through the ranks to Brigadier General in March of 2002. Today, Carol Ann helps fellow veterans and their families secure health care benefits they may be eligible and entitled to because of their service to our country.

“Carol Ann’s distinguished military service, impactful role as a nurse, and unwavering dedication to Veterans advocacy exemplify the values we uphold in providing comprehensive care for women. It's a tribute to her tireless commitment to serving others and empowering women in healthcare and beyond,” says Sean Stevens, outreach coordinator for the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System.
