Therapeutic Nursing Care III --- This course is an advanced nursing course with a focus on evaluating the complex needs of patients and families within the total context of care. Emphasis is on demonstrating synthesis of prior knowledge, and proficient use of evidenced based practice. Particular attention will be placed on student's ability to anticipate patient needs in order to refine clinical judgment, clinical reasoning, and clinical decision-making. Content includes advanced concepts such as homeostasis and regulation, oxygenation, cognitive function and transitions of care. Concepts related to person, family, significant other(s), community, society, and culture are integrated within the course. Professional standards of care, professional ethics, socioeconomics, and compliance with legal standards are integrated within the context of care.
