Leadership for Professional Practice --- This course focuses on leadership and management concepts relevant to clinical settings and other health care contexts. The course will build on previously learned concepts of teamwork, quality, delegation, motivation, negotiation, problem solving, and safety and apply these concepts to organization and system contexts. Students will examine interprofessional practice and teamwork in care delivery systems and study management structures and processes that enable an organization or unit to deliver efficient and effective nursing care. Moreover, course content focuses on use of data for quality improvement and practice change with specific attention to emerging science, innovative technologies, political and cultural environments, ethical implications, and financial considerations. Students will examine the Quality and Safety Education in Nursing (QSEN) competencies and their importance in care delivery and outcomes.
