Prerequisite (Advisory):

Prerequisite (Enforced):

PhD students register for various elective courses of their choice that will equal 9 total credits. The credits are distributed over the first 2-3 years within the PhD Program, as defined by the program plan, and approved by the primary mentor. These courses should expand the student’s knowledge and capacity relative to their research interests. Three of the 9 credits must be “analytic” in nature (must be approved by the primary mentor and PhD Program Director), 3 credits must be relevant to the student’s research topic (substantive), and 4 credits must satisfy Rackham’s cognate requirements.
