NURS 523 - Role Transition to APRN

Prerequisite: Graduate Nursing Students

The course explores the role of the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN*) as an advanced practice health care provider meeting individual, population, community and system level health care needs. The historical and contemporary evolution of the APRN role is reviewed including their unique position in health care and nursing leadership, policy, practice, and advocacy. Education, certification, regulation, credentialing and scope of practice requirements will be identified for the varied APRN roles with a focus on optimizing APRN practice through full practice authority laws.
