Dr. Emily Chapin’s clinical scholarship includes evidence-based policy development for the provision of pre-exposure prophylaxis for the prevention of HIV in adolescents and young adults. She has participated in research on trauma-informed nursing education through the CASCAID (Complex ACE’s, Complex Aid) study group. Dr. Chapin currently practices in a not-for-profit community health center that provides family planning and sexual healthcare services.

Teaching

Dr. Chapin is clinical faculty for an undergraduate nursing course on population centered nursing on the University of Michigan Flint campus, working with community health organizations serving the Ann Arbor community. She is also lab faculty for a graduate nursing course on advanced health assessment for Family Nurse Practitioner and Adult-Gero Primary Care Nurse Practitioner students on the University of Michigan Ann Arbor campus. In the community, Dr. Chapin has provided education to healthcare providers on pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV prevention and trauma-informed care. Her pedagogy is inclusive and trauma-informed; she values the unique experience of each student, and how diversity and empathy enrich learning.
