Purpose of Visit

Ms. Kummabutr will be studying the role parents play in adolescent life skills development. She is collecting research data for her doctoral dissertation on an intervention she designed in which parents and their children participate in separate interventions that seek to build life skills in adolescents.
 

Biography

Ms. Kummabutr is a doctoral candidate at Mahidol University Faculty of Nursing in Bangkok, Thailand. She is originally from Nakhon Nayok, Thailand. She enjoys traveling and visiting museums of all kinds.
 

 

Dr. Feng HuiDr. Feng Hui

Purpose of Visit

Dr. Feng Hui will be researching community health nursing and health maintenance under Dr. Ziemba's guidance. She is funded by the China Medical Board and will use resources at the University of Michigan to inform her body of research and work to develop innovative practice models for community nursing in urban China.
 

Biography

Dr. Hui holds a PhD in Nursing from Central South University in Changsha, China. She is the Director of the Hunan Health Management Association and was previously a visiting scholar at the Yale University School of Nursing. Her research interests include community health, geriatric care, and nursing education. She enjoys cooking traditional Chinese cuisine and traveling.

Purpose of Visit

Ms. Kerdmuang is developing an assessment instrument for the occupational health service competencies of primary care nurses in Thailand.
 

Biography

Ms. Kerdmuang earned a Master's degree in Public Health from Mahidol University, Thailand, with a specialization in public health nursing.

  • Ms. Sandra Patricia Platas Avendano (Mexico) -- advanced her undergraduate studies and explored her interest in chronic disease research; including diabetes, obesity and hypertension

  • Ms. Marianne Nieuwenhuijze (Netherlands) -- studied birth tape transcripts to explore birth positions and glean instructions given to women from their health providers

  • Dr. Janya Chareonsuk (Thailand) --  studied the factors that predict sexually risky behavior in adolescents

  • Dr. Hye-Ryoung Kim (Korea) -- studied chronic disease and related risk factors in the Korean elderly community at a time when the South Korean elderly population and the prevalence of chronic diseases are increasing
