GO Faculty Grants

Overview

The U-M School of Nursing Office of Global Outreach (GO) offers limited support for faculty-led international programs each year with the goal of increasing opportunities for global engagement by faculty and students. Awards typically average $1,000. Please note that GO is unable to support conference travel or presentations at this time.

 

Application

To be considered for funding, applications must contain the following:
  • Application form
  • Budget narrative and justification (1 page): provide details of budget items and why the cost items are necessary;
  • Project description (2 pages):  describe a) objectives, b) background and goals, c) approach including methods, procedures, and location, and d) project timeline
  • Impact and matching funds summary: specify anticipated outcomes and list potential external funding sources.

Deadline

GO accepts and reviews applications on a rolling basis throughout the year. Notification of award decision generally takes place within four weeks of receipt of the application.

 

Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be considered using the following criteria:
  • Potential impact of the proposed project in terms of increasing global engagement or global research for School of Nursing students
  • Congruence with the school's World Health Organization Collaborating Center mission and geographic area
  • Efficiency in use of university's and school's resources
  • Value of experience to learning objectives for students and potential for research collaborations
  • Adherence to guidelines and program requirements
 

Post-Award Requirements

Faculty who receive a GO Global Engagement Faculty Grant are required to submit a final report to the Office of Global Outreach upon completion of the funded project.
