Teaching

Ms. Westfall’s goal is to help the student assimilate and accommodate to the needs and expectations of the educational institution and the ever-evolving realm of health care. She feels that it is important to eliminate, as much as possible, the air of intimidation that is involved with learning clinically related material. Also, by focusing on the most important, basic principles of the subject and then branching out with only clinically critical details.  And finally, her over all feeling about nursing and teaching lies in the following quote, “They may forget your name but they will never forget how you made them feel” –Maya Angelou. Ms. Westfall is a member of the Association of Nurse Practitioner in Women’s Health and the American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology. She has a deep respect for Women’s Health and Child Bearing Families and truly enjoys facilitating the hands-on learning experienced by University of Michigan nursing students.
