In addition, she coordinates a program for patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus which includes initial evaluation, admission for inpatient lumbar drain trial, serial physical therapy evaluations, and decision-making regarding options. Ms. Gunden also assists in moderating a monthly Brain Tumor Support Group.

Teaching

Ms. Gunden was the first adult nurse practitioner in the Department of Neurosurgery and has been a mentor to many nurse practitioners hired by the department over the past 25 years. She has been a preceptor for both undergraduate and graduate nursing students, focusing on care across the continuum of the pre-peri- and postoperative period.
