Graduate non-candidate for degree admissions

The School of Nursing offers students a flexible enrollment option to take graduate level coursework with a non-candidate for degree (NCFD) admission status. A student may choose NCDF as a means of enrolling for continuing education purposes.

If admitted, you may enroll for two consecutive terms in a maximum of two courses per term in a single program. NCFD students cannot register for courses until the first day of classes each term. International students seeking NCFD status must be enrolled full-time.

The NursingCAS application opens on August 23, 2017.

  • Winter 2018 semester deadline: November 1, 2017.
  • Spring/summer 2018 semester deadline: March 1, 2018.

Credit earned under non-candidate for degree status

Courses elected under non-candidate for degree status cannot be counted toward a U-M School of Nursing graduate degree program unless the student receives regular admission and the chair of the degree program determines that the courses are acceptable. Regular admission is not guaranteed. To be considered, a regular admission application must be submitted through NursingCAS.

Tuition and fees

Non-candidate for degree students pay the same tuition as degree-seeking students. Financial assistance is not available.
