System Requirements for SIM-IQ

  • Supported Operating Systems:  Windows 7, 8.1, Mac OS X v10.9 (Mavericks), v10.8 (Mountian Lion), v10.7 (Lion)
     
  • Supported Internet Browsers: IE 11.0, Google Chrome 39.0 or Firefox 28.0
     
  • Internet Connection:  High speed broadband connection
     
  • VPN Client If you are connecting to SIM-IQ from off campus you must use a VPN client
     
  • User account:  Uniqname and level 1 or kerberos password

 

Important Reminders

  • If you are off campus, SIM-IQ requires a VPN connection or you will get an error stating the page can not be displayed.
     
  • Use your uniqname level 1 or kerberos password to log into SIM-IQ.
     
  • You are expected to complete your pre-encounter the day before you scheduled simulation.  Your pre-encounter may not be available the day of your scheudled simulation.
     
  • Make sure you download any pre-sim study materials such as articles or word documents from the system before you enter the pre-encounter so you have them available to you while you are in the pre-encounter.
     
  • Pre-encounters are timed.  Once you open the pre-cencounter, you must complete it within the time period allowed.
     
  • You may have additional To-Do items in your list.  Make sure you use the drop down menu with the number to see additional items.  (See step 5 below)
     
  • SITES computer labs are available 24/7 hours on campus or you may use Virtual SITES without VPN to connect from home.

 

Accessing SIM-IQ

SIM-IQ is only accessible on campus using MWireless, a School of Nursing computer or from any of the SITES computer labs.  If you are using a computer off campus, you will need to connect using a VPN client to access SIM-IQ.

 

Installing VPN Client on your Computer

A VPN client is required to access SIM-IQ from off campus.  You may download the software by going to the following website:

Instructions for Accessing SIM-IQ:

  1. Log into your VPN (only required if accessing from off campus)

    1. Open the cisco anyconnect VPN client on your computer and click on connect.

      Open the VPN client and click on connect

       
    2. Log into the VPN client using your unqname and level 1 or kerberos password.

      Log in with your uniqname and level 1 password

       
  2. Go to nursing.umich.edu home page and use the menu to go to --> Academics --> Clinical Learning Center

     Go to the nursing.umich.ed web page and navigate to Academics, Clinical Learning

     
  3. Click on the blue SIM-IQ link on the left of the page to go to SIM-IQ web page.

    Click on the SIM-IQ link

     
  4. Log into SIM-IQ with your level 1 or kerberos password.

    Log in with your uniqname and level 1 password
     
  5. After you log into SIM-IQ you will be brought to your dashboard.  Here you will find your To-Do List.  Notice: you may have more items in your list.  Click on the number with the drop down menu to see the rest of the items.
