Description

Join health science schools and colleges at U-M for the annual MLK book dialogue. The dialogue centers on Ta-Nehisi Coates' 2017 book We were eight years in power An American tragedy. The dialogue will address women's health equity. Coates examines cultural and political themes around race and racism, comparing the post-Civil War Reconstruction period with the Obama era. Both periods also saw progress in women's issues and participants will use his framework to explore issues of equity in health and health care.

Experts in women's health will lead interprofessional table discussions for students. Community members welcome. Please see event description for ways to access the book.

Pizza, salad and beverages will be served.

Please RSVP to Vidhya Aravind at vidh@umich.edu.
