First and foremost, I got an outstanding education at the U-M School of Nursing.  Not only was I taught the science of nursing care, the clinical and interpersonal skills but I was also taught to be a life-long learner, a professional and a contributing member of the health care team.  I had excellent role models on the faculty and throughout the medical center.  My passion for nursing has never ebbed.  Everything I learned and experienced gave me a firm foundation and assisted me in my career growth over the last 37 years.  I want to give back to the School of Nursing to repay all that I was given.  I want future generations of U-M nurses to continue to excel and to be the leaders in our country and throughout the world in clinical practice, policy, education and research.  When I went to college there were not the kind of opportunities for women that exist now but I do not regret for a moment becoming a nurse.  My career has allowed me to learn, grow and contribute and have great satisfaction and joy.
